BountyHunt

BountyHunt is a custom chess game that I made in 3 weeks.

Its main feature is a promotion mechanic which allow chess pieces to upgrade to a higher class after eating enemy chess pieces.

Based on VRwithAndrew’s YouTube tutorial series of VR chess, I re-programmed many features including a new chess movement logic for balancing purpose, and a new board placement with randomized enemy placement and reinforcement, and also a simple computer AI. I also done all art assets in the game.

The difficulty mainly come from tweaking the interaction between promotion system and the new board placement that create many bugs of overlapping chess pieces. But after an extra week of hard work, Most of them are fixed in the end.

In reflection, there can be some other user-friendly element implment for better play experience. However, for a “proof of concept” project that was originally planned to complete within 15 days, I am satisfied with the final result.
